Description	:	Funeral services for Lydia Tietz, age 93, of New Leipzig, ND will be at 10:30 a.m. MT on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Leipzig. Pastor John Amundson will officiate with burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. A family service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pastor John Amundson will officiate with burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. A family service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin. A memorial has been established to Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Leipzig. Special music will be provided by Marjorie Mueller. Serving as casketbearers are Mark Hintz, Randy Tietz, Christopher Tietz, Eric Tietz, Beth Tietz, and Mike Tietz. All friends and relatives are considered honorary bearers. LYDIA BAESLER was born February 11, 1917 on the family farm north of New Leipzig, ND to Gottlieb Sr. and Caroline (Peltz) Baesler. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church north of New Leipzig. She attended a country school near her home. Lydia was united in marriage to Arthur Tietz on September 30, 1937 at Trinity Lutheran Church. They farmed north of New Leipzig until 1944, when they purchased Will Brothers Hardware. They operated Tietz Hardware for many years until selling the business to their sons in the early 1980's and retiring. Lydia and Arthur continued to live in New Leipzig. Lydia entered the Mott Good Samaritan Nursing Center in September 2009. She passed from this life there on Friday evening, October 22, 2010 at the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 11 days. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church north of New Leipzig and Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in the church women's group, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School for many years. Lydia was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 61 years. She loved doing handiwork, cross stitching, and doing word puzzles. She made the most delicious homemade apple pies, strudels and dumplings. Lydia will be most remembered for her commitment to her community and family. She was also known to be a mother to those that had lost theirs. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Arthur; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Murlin Hintz, Joplin, MO; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Nyla Tietz, New Leipzig, ND; Duane "Dewey" and Barb Tietz, Bismarck, ND; Brian Tietz, Bruce and Roxann Tietz, all of New Leipzig, ND; 10 grandchildren, Mark (Ardis) Hintz, Margo (Mitch) Byrd, Lisa Glasspoole, Tana (Jim) Lobeck, Randy (Rebecca) Tietz, Jennifer (Dan) Polk, Christopher Tietz, Eric Tietz, Beth Tietz, and Mike Tietz, 12 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, Emma Leischner, Pauline Sprecher, Helen Zimmerman, and Elsie Rieger, 4 brothers, Daniel, Rudy, Willie, and Gottlieb Jr. Baesler; and 8 Weller step brothers and step sisters.
