Description	:	Lydia Hilda (Schwarz) Hochhalter, 76, passed away peacefully on her birthday Oct. 29, 2011, at St. Vincent's Nursing Home, Bismarck. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Bismarck Funeral Home. There will be a burial of the cremated remains in New Leipzig. Read More	Lydia Hilda (Schwarz) Hochhalter, 76, passed away peacefully on her birthday Oct. 29, 2011, at St. Vincent's Nursing Home, Bismarck. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Bismarck Funeral Home. There will be a burial of the cremated remains in New Leipzig. Lydia was born to Martin and Hilda (Ude) Schwarz on Oct. 29, 1935, in Beulah. She was united in marriage to Harold Hochhalter on Oct. 29, 1958. This was a very special date to her. They worked side by side and raised four children on the family farm in Hettinger County. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and involved in Extension Homemakers and 4-H in the New Leipzig area. She and Harold enjoyed square dancing and farming together. After Harold passed away in 1985, she remained on the farm for several years. In 1990, she moved to Bismarck and worked at the Holiday Inn and Medcenter One until her retirement. She had a heart for people and truly received joy from serving people in their time of need. After she retired she continued volunteer work at Medcenter One. In February 2008 she entered Maple View East and in July 2011 she moved to St Vincent's where she resided until the time of her death. Lydia had many talents and expressed them through her hobbies which included; crocheting, sewing, quilting, gardening, and painting landscapes. She loved her family and would do anything for them. One of the most special times for her was getting together for family reunions. She is survived by her children Susan (Gary) Broyles, Rapelje, Mont., Ken (Cheri) Hochhalter, Mott, Sandra (Galen) Stoltz, Mandan, and Kevin (Lori Raub) Hochhalter, Surrey; her grandchildren, Kim, Paul, Mark, John, Taylor and Parker Broyles, Zach and Alex Hochhalter, and Ashley and Brent Stoltz; her brothers and sisters, Albert (LaRue) Schwarz, Alvin (Evie) Schwarz, Freida Maas, Herbert (Sharon) Schwarz, Elmer (Arlene) Schwarz, Wilmer (Lois) Schwarz, Leo (JoAnn) Schwarz, and Martin (Sue) Schwarz; her sisters-in-law, Olivia Bertsch and Deloris (Lloyd) Sprecher; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; and her brothers-in-law, Herman Bertsch and Ray Maas. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to her care givers at Maple view East and St. Vincent's Nursing Home over the past few years. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
