(Schlatter)see below Obituary *************************************** Mrs. William R. Eicher passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Schlatter, about ten o’clock Monday evening after an illness of a week. Funeral services were held at the Wayland Mennonite Church at 1:30 Thursday afternoon, Feb 5 with Rev. E. S. Mullett and Rev. Willard Leichty in charge. Mrs. Arthur Davison and Mrs. John Dill Hulme sang and were accompanied by Mrs. Edward Wittrig on the organ. Arthur Boshart, Leonard Wyse, Henry Graber, Eli Yoder, Lloyd and Harvey Swartzendruber were the casket bearers. Burial was made in the North Hill Cemetery. The Zehr Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Lydia (Swartzendruber) Eicher, daughter of Joseph and Lydia (Kauffman) Swartzendruber was born in Iowa County Iowa on 11/5/1867. On November 17, 1887 she united in marriage to William R. Eicher of Wayland Iowa. To this union were born one son, Harvey, and one daughter Nettie (Mrs. John Schlatter), both living in Wayland, Iowa. Those who preceded her in death were her mother and father, 15 brothers and sisters, one infant grandson, Allen Richard Eicher. At the age of 16 she made her decision to become a Christian by accepting Christ as her Savior and was baptized into the Mennonite faith, to which faith she held during the remainder of her life. At the time of her death she was a member of the Wayland Mennonite Church. She departed this life on Monday Feb 2, 1953 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Schlatter, Wayland, Iowa, at the age of 85 years 2 months and 28 days. After a short illness of six days she was stricken with heart failure which was the direct cause of her death. She is survived by her husband, one son, Harvey, one daughter, Nettie, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends. To the immediate family she was a devoted mother and grandmother ever concerned that her family remain true and loyal to the Christ whom she loved and served. All who were acquainted with her life will remember her as a faithful Sunday School teacher and regular church attendant as long as her health permitted. She was conscious that her end was approaching and expressed her readiness and desire to depart and be with Christ.
