Mrs. Leo Thoma, of Sioux City, formerly Miss Lydia Ahlrichs, of LeMars, died at Sacred Heart Hospital in LeMars, Sunday, March 22, 1931, following an acute case of peritonitis, says the Sentinel. Mrs. Thoma was brought to the hospital only a little over a week before, and on Monday, March 16, gave birth to a baby boy, who did not survive his birth. Following the ordeal the young mother failed to rally and complications set in that resulted in her death. Mrs. Leo Thoma was born and grew up in LeMars. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ahlrichs and was born September 15, 1906, and received her early training and attended the public schools here. After leaving school she was employed as a clerk in a store at Akron for a few years. She was united in marriage October 19, 1928, with Leo Thoma, of Wall, S. D., and with her husband lived there until last fall, when they moved to Sioux City to make their home. She is survived by her husband, Leo Thoma, and a baby daughter, Jo Lois; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ahlrichs; two sisters, Mrs. Martin Delaney and Mrs. H.O. Buehre; and two brothers, Alfred and Wilbur, of this vicinity. Many other relatives and friends mourn the untimely death of their schoolmate and friend. The funeral services where held this afternoon at St. Paul's Methodist church at 2 o'clock, Rev. Geo. M. Ruff officiating. Interment was in the city cemetery in LeMars. Dick Bohlken and family and Wm. Bohlken, of this city, attended the funeral of their neice. Mrs. Thoma, and several friends also went over from here.
