She was married to Isaiah Twombley in the state of Ohio in the year of 1840. She with her husband came to Clarke County in 1852 where she has resided . . . To this union thirteen children were born, five of which with her husband preceded her to the great beyond . . . Mrs. Twombley has a very interesting history as her father James Otis was a soldier in the War of 1812. Also, she is a near relative of the Otis mentioned in the Boston "tea party" . . .This community where she resided from the year 1852 until she went to Osceola some three years ago . . . She was a charter member of the Baptist Church of Lacelle . . . mourn her going eight children: Mrs. Emiline Hunt of Osceola Iowa; James Twombley, Osceola, Iowa; Joseph Twombley of Oregon; Oliver Twombley of Nebraska; Arthur Twombley of Osceola, Iowa; Mrs. O. F. Davis, Osceola, Iowa; Grant Twombley, Osceola, Iowa; Mrs. Addie Walcott of Missouri. Also, 45 grandchildren, one hundred and one great-grandchildren, and sixteen great-great grandchildren. . . Pall bearers were Charley Twombley, Ormy Davis, Frank Twombley, Blain Hunt, Sharon Twombley. Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church of Lacelle, Iowa, Sunday afternoon at one-thirty o'clock, conducted by P. G. Dennis, pastor of the Church of Christ, Osceola, Iowa. Acccording to family data from Keith Twombley Johnson of Rapid City, South Dakota, sent 12 Feb 2000 to Ed Dutton, Isaiah and his family moved to Clarke County, Lacelle Township, in 1852. Her father was a wheelwright by trade, and was the first mechanic in Zanesville--of German descent. James Otis was a son of Barnabus OTIS, a descendant of the Puritans who came to America on the Mayflower; he became a soldier in the Revolutionary War. Mr. and Mrs. James OTIS were the parents of six children--Lydia M., James H., William G., Henry Clay, John B. and one who died in infancy. . . . William G. was nine years of age when his parents removed to Marion County, where he was reared. (William G. OTIS traveled to Iowa in 1848 and 1849, then moved to Clarke County, Iowa in September, 1850).
