Description	:	Lydia Medora Salnave, daughter of John D. and Jane Salnave, was born at their home in North Chemung, New York, June 4, 1849. She came with her parents to Harrison county, Iowa in August 1866, where she resided until November 1869, when she removed with them to Beaver Crossing, Seward county, Nebraska. On March 26, 1870, she was united in marriage at the home of her parents to John H. Read More	Lydia Medora Salnave, daughter of John D. and Jane Salnave, was born at their home in North Chemung, New York, June 4, 1849. She came with her parents to Harrison county, Iowa in August 1866, where she resided until November 1869, when she removed with them to Beaver Crossing, Seward county, Nebraska. On March 26, 1870, she was united in marriage at the home of her parents to John H. Waterman of Logan, Iowa, and returned with her husband to his home where she spent the first seven months of her married life. On November 15, 1870, they again turned their faces to the setting of the sun and landed at Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, where she spent fifty-five years and six months of her life, aiding her husband in an effort to improve conditions in the wild west, upon a homestead of government land. Although always frail, she performed her duties as wife and mother faithfully, lovingly and well, seemingly forgetful of her own afflictions from which she gradually descended for many years until on the morning of April 9, 1926, in the presence of her loved and loving ones, her husband, two daughters, sister and husband, Mrs. Riley Hornady, and her faithful doctor, C. W. Doty, in the sad and lonely hours of the early morning her spirit took its flight to her heavenly home. To the deceased there were born one son and three daughters. Royal D. was born December 29, 1870; Sylvia Grace was born September 3, 1874, an unfortunate child afflicted with disease from which she passed into the great beyond when she was fourteen years of age. Irene Mabel and Lena Inez, twins, were born February 2, 1882. The former is still single while Lena is the wife of Fred A. Harriger of Exeter, Nebraska, who with the wife and four children, Charles Henry, Irene S., Allen Samuel and Medora Ellen, mourn the loss of a kind mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She also leaves to mourn her loss four sisters and their families: Mrs. Sylvester Johnston of Canton, Missouri; Mrs. Paton Dillon of Alliance, Nebr.; Mrs. Chris Maurer of Farnam, Nebr. and Mrs. Edward Lanning of Lexington, Nebr., the latter, with her husband and son, Ned, being present at the burial of their loved one. In the summer of 1892, the deceased became a charter member of the Christian church of Beaver Crossing and continued in the faith of Him who is able to save. The funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, April 11, 1926, in the Christian church under the direction of the pastor, L. S. Burnham. The beautiful music was furnished by a quartette from Bethany, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Eppler, Miss Iola Leffingwell and Mr. H. H. Bowers, with Mrs. Alfred Scheibel at the piano.
