She was born June 3, 1911, to Gottfried and Elizabeth Karst Oblander in Garden City, KS. In 1928 she was united in marriage to Henry Baum. He died in 1983. Lydia and Henry farmed in Ballantine, MT., retiring to Billings, MT. in 1962. Lydia then worked for Logan's Drape-Way for a few years. She enjoyed crocheting, doing crafts and working with beautiful roses. Lending a helping hand is what you would always fine Lydia doing. She had a heart full of love which she shared with her family and friends. She put others first. Surviving are two sons, Lawrence and his wife, Beverly, of Port Angeles, WA., and Thomas and his wife, Doris, of Ballantine, MT. two sisters, Elsie Wohlberg of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Esther Van Luchene of Ballantine; one brother, Reinhart (Mike) Oblander of Ballantine; eight grandchildren: Larry Baum of Kalispell, MT., Lynette DeVries of Roberts, MT., Shirley Kane and Randy Baum of Red Lodge, MT. Jamey Baum of Ballantine, Cheryl Ryan and Coreen Baum of Denver, CO., and Charleen Habel of Billings, MT.; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Lydia was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church and attended the Lord's Community Chapel for a year while living with her son and daughter-in-law. We love you and we'll miss you. One day we will be reunited. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at the Pilgrim Congregational Church. Interment will be at the Pleasantview Cemetery in Ballantine, MT. Memorials to Pilgrim Congregational Church, Montana Rescue Mission or to the Lord's Community Chapel in Worden. Smith Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
