He proudly served in the army of occupation in Japan until... Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Lyle Albert Brown was born on Wednesday; December 17, 1924 in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. Lyle was the son of Raymond H. and Mabel B. (Legg) Brown. They moved to a farm on North Center Street Road in 1928. For 8 years he attended rural school at Taylor #5 on old Highway 14. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1943 and he helped run the family dairy farm until March 1945 when he entered the United States Army. He proudly served in the army of occupation in Japan until his discharge in October 1946. He was a 60 year member of the American Legion here in town. Lyle married Clara Bratland in 1947 and they had 3 children: twins, Douglas & Dolores, and Patricia. He worked for 2 years for J.P. Brindle, near Conrad; Grundy County, Iowa and 15 years for Arden Olson, west of Marshalltown, Iowa. He then worked almost 21 years for Fishers in Marshalltown, Iowa. After Clara's death in 1974 he married Adeline (Zieskie) Britain in 1977 at Redeemer Lutheran. Lyle was a loving person who enjoyed going fishing, camping, and spending the winter in Harlingen; Cameron County, Texas for the past 16 years. Lyle Albert Brown, age 82, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Wednesday; October 10, 2007, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife: Adeline. His son Douglas of Marshalltown, Iowa. His daughters: Dolores & her husband: Eugenio Coco of Urbandale; Polk County, Iowa and Patricia & her husband: Jeff Larmer of Bozeman; Gallatin County, Montana. His daughter-in-law: Zoe McGraw of Arizona. His step-children: Debra Randall of Marshalltown, Iowa. Pam & her husband: Lee Morris of Southlake; Tarrant County, Texas and Jeff & his wife: Joni Britain of McKinney; Collin County, Texas. His grandchildren: Jason & his wife: Rochelle Brown. Jacob & his wife: Tammy Brown. Missy & her husband: Andy Mortensen, Courtney Larmer, Haleigh Larmer, Matt Randall, Josh Britain, Jessica Britain, T.J. Morris, Francesco Coco, and Matthew Coco. Several great-grandchildren. His brother: Wayne A. Brown of Marshalltown and his sister: Shirley & her husband: Gene Martin of Albion; Marshall County, Iowa as well as many friends in Texas that he met while he wintered there. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife: Clara. Two brothers in infancy; and a sister: Gretchen Owen. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be held from: 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday; October 14, 2007 at the funeral home. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday; October 15, 2007 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown, Iowa. For condolences, please visit the funeral home's website.
