Lyle Reynold Recker was born March 24, 1938 at rural Arlington, Iowa, the son of Alfred & Florence (Besler) Recker. He was known to family and friends as “Bud” or “Buddy” a name his mom gave him as a child. He received his education from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Oelwein where he graduated in the class of 1956. Lyle was united in marriage to Frances Elizabeth “Fran” Gloede on April 4, 1959 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. They were blessed with four sons; Jim, Tim, John and Vince. Lyle farmed east of Oelwein for his entire life. He also owned Recker Construction for 40 years, installing drainage tile for local farmers. Lyle developed many lifelong friendships through many organizations. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, longtime member of Iowa Land Improvement Contractors of Iowa and the Iowa Corn Growers Association. Lyle enjoyed working the rich Iowa topsoil through farming and land improvement. He also had a collection of 2-cylinder tractors that he was very proud of. Lyle passed on the love of farming to his family through his sons and grandchildren. Lyle is survived by his Wife of 61 years: Fran Recker of Oelwein; Four Sons: Jim (Deb) Recker of Oelwein, Tim (Darla) Recker of Arlington, John (Michelle) Recker of Cedar Rapids & Vince (Shelly) Recker of Valparaiso, Indiana; 11 Grandchildren: Ashley (Joe) Lawson, Chelsey (Keth)Malone, Jordan (Rachel) Recker, Kenndon Recker, Megghan Recker, Madison Recker, Malorei Recker, Noah (Delaney) Recker, Jack Recker, Andrew Recker, Lillie Recker and 6 Great Grandchildren; 2 Brothers: Dale (Judy) Recker of Arlington & Larry Recker of Oelwein; 2 Sisters: Mary Ann Ryan of Britt, IA & Sharon (John) Woods of Fairbank and many nieces & nephews. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Florence Recker, 2 brothers: Carl & Ernie and 2 sisters: Betty Reeser & Linda Linder.
