He drove trucks for Blue Star Trucking two years and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served from May 5, 1952, to June 30, 1954, during the Korean War. Read More	PFC UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS KOREA Lyle was born in West Point to Arthur and Alforetta (Doescher) Petersen. He grew up in West Point and graduated from West Point High School. He drove trucks for Blue Star Trucking two years and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served from May 5, 1952, to June 30, 1954, during the Korean War. He was employed by Lockner Engineering for six years in Chicago, Southport, Conn., Tampa, Fla., at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., and at the Coors Brewery in Golden, Colo. He then moved to Fremont in 1962. He owned and operated Red Diamond Concrete Co. at Winslow and Fremont for two years and then worked for Jack Davis Construction for nine years. He retired due to a disability in 1971. He married Elizabeth “Jane” Heinssen on May 24, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dodge. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854 and served as national assistant inspector general of the VFW in 1974 and 1980. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18 and served as state junior vice commander of the DAV. He was a member of American Legion Post 20 of Fremont, was District 7 VFW commander in 1971 and 1972 and was a member of the Past Commander’s Club. He also was a member of the National Cushman Scooter Club, Nebraska Antique Cushman Club and National King Midget Car Club. He was a former member of the Fremont Honor Guard.
