Lyle Edward Baer was born in Ferguson, Iowa, August 11, 1927, the son of Cecil Leroy and Wilma (Richardson) Baer. He was reared and educated in Ferguson and Marshalltown, and graduated from Marshalltown High School. Lyle served in both World War II and in Korea. Lyle Edward Baer was born in Ferguson, Iowa, August 11, 1927, the son of Cecil Leroy and Wilma (Richardson) Baer. He was reared and educated in Ferguson and Marshalltown, and graduated from Marshalltown High School. Lyle served in both World War II and in Korea. He attended barber college in Des Moines, and owned and operated Lyle's Barber Shop in Marshalltown for many years. Lyle was a member of New Hope Christian Church, the Harry C. Harter Post #839 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Marshalltown Barbers' Association, the Matins Kiwanis Club, a life member of the Marshalltown Men's Bowling League, and a life member and past commander of the Frank Lewis Glick Post #46 of the American Legion. Lyle resided at 110 Pleasant View Road in Marshalltown. He passed away Saturday, December 6, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. He is survived by his wife Hazel, 3 children: Lyle Baer, Jr., Deanna L. Good, and Dena L. Baer, all of Marshalltown;2 grandchildren: Jillisa Cantrell and Jennifer Perry; 4 great-grandchildren: Heather Baer, Rebecca Rakowicz,Holly Baer, and Colton Cantrell. Also by his 5 brothers and sisters: Susan Hawn and Michael Baer, both of Ferguson, Iowa; Verlyn Baer, Tallahassee, Florida; Julie Baer, Bersford, South Dakota; and Ellen Baer, Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and by his paternal and maternal grandparents. Following cremation, funeral services were Tuesday, December 9, 10 a.m. at New Hope Christian Church, with Rev. Kerry Jech officiating.
