Description	:	Funeral services for Lyle Ruff, age 69 of Bristow, will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bristow, Nebraska with burial in the Bristow Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 22, 2010 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the church with a 7:30 P.M. prayer service. Brockhaus Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements. Lyle John Ruff, son of Ernest and Bernice (Nelson) Ruff, was born March 29, 1941 at Lynch, Nebraska. He attended grade school in Bristow, Nebraska and graduated from Spencer High School, Spencer, Nebraska in 1958. He received his bachelors degree in education in 1962 from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. Lyle lived the first four years of his life north of Spencer then the family moved to a farm south of Bristow, where he lived until he went to college. He lived in Bristow for the remainder of his life. He married Cleora Fox on December 23, 1963 at ONeill, Nebraska. Three children were born to them: Renee, Rhonda and Janet. Lyle taught industrial arts and business classes in Clearwater, Lynch and Spencer. In 1977 he changed careers and received his license to sell insurance. In 1987 he opened his own agency, Nebraska State Insurance. He was a member of the Butte Full Gospel Church and also a member of the Gideons International, Lions Clubs, the Bristow town board, was a fireman and EMT and the Lynch Booster Club. He was involved in many church and community activities. Lyle was known for his love of fishing and everything associated with it, from tying flies, to fixing reels and casting lines. Lyle enjoyed being around people, telling a good joke and he never met a stranger. He died on October 19, 2010 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Survivors include wife, Cleora; children, Renee and family, JB, Autumn, Victory and Binyam Sikes of Burwell, NE, Rhonda and family Dee, Jaelyn, Trak and Ryder Lewis of Oxford, NE, and Janet and family Jason, Nicole, Jessy, Izraell and Aavalon Gritten of Odebott, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Bernice Ruff.
