He was born January 31, 1944, in Aberdeen, Washington to Lyle Leslie Folkers and Luda Marie (Prather) Folkers. He attended schools in Aberdeen, graduating from Aberdeen High School in 1962. He deeply loved baseball playing everything from Little League through American Legion, also playing at Aberdeen High School and Grays Harbor College. Keith graduated from Grays Harbor College in 1964. He received a B.S. (Cum Laude) in 1966 in Aeronautical Engineering and an M.S. in 1968 in Aeronautical Engineering both from the University of Washington. He went to work for the Boeing Company in the Guidance and Control Systems Technical Staff from 1968 to 1973. His assignments included predicting and evaluating missile and spacecraft performance for the Minuteman Missiles, the Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACS), and the Mariner Venus Mercury Spacecraft (MVM 73). He was later assigned to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California for two years to support in-flight operations on the MVM 73 Spacecraft. He married his High School Sweetheart, Judy Godfrey in 1965 after a four year courtship. In total they spent a wonderful 50 years together. Keith and his family moved back to Aberdeen in 1973 and he worked for the Weyerhaeuser Company Cosmopolis Pulp Mill until 1994. He held various positions including Senior Project Engineer, Environmental Supervisor, Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Manager, and Production Manager. In 1994 he became the first Mill Manager at the newly reopened Grays Harbor Paper L.P. Mill in Hoquiam. He worked there until retiring in 2001. Survivors include his wife, Judy; two sons both of Hoquiam, Michael with two grandchildren, (Megan and Elizabeth) and Garett (Shayne) with four grandchildren (Paige, Jackson, Bradley and Ella Jo). He is also survived by his three sisters, Jacquelyn Udovich (Gary) of Olympia, Jane Bettinson (Jeff) of Lacey, and Julie Antich (Gary) of Cosmopolis as well as his mother-in-law, Theresa Godfrey of Hoquiam. His interests included golf, racquetball, and deer hunting. He continued his passion for baseball by coaching his sons and grandchildren in Little League, fast pitch and Babe Ruth. He also refereed High School Basketball for 10 years. He was a past member of the Aberdeen Eagles, the Grays Harbor Country Club and was a current member of the Aberdeen Elks. He genuinely adored his six grandchildren and loved to watch them participate in any sporting event. Keith enjoyed traveling and visited 27 of the 50 states as well as all of Canada, Mexico, Japan, and most of Europe including England, France, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland. He also enjoyed history and visited almost every Civil War and Revolutionary War battlefield. The family requests that donations be sent to the Central Park Volunteer Firefighters Association, P.O. Box 332, Aberdeen, or to PAWS, P.O. Box 451, Aberdeen, 98520. A private interment will be held in the Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen. A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, March 29, 2012, in the Immanuel Baptist Church, 1200 Soule Street in Hoquiam with Pastor W. Kent Gravley officiating. Direction is by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam.
