Description	:	Lyle Victor Steege age 88 of Fredericksburg, Iowa died Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. Lyle Victor Steege was born January 25, 1927 on the family farm near Fredericksburg, Iowa the son of Victor and Hilda (Jacobs) Steege. Read More	Lyle Victor Steege age 88 of Fredericksburg, Iowa died Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. Lyle Victor Steege was born January 25, 1927 on the family farm near Fredericksburg, Iowa the son of Victor and Hilda (Jacobs) Steege. He received his education at a rural country school in Fredericksburg. Lyle later continued on to Fredericksburg High School where he graduated in 1945. During high school, Lyle met the love of his life, Darlene Brandenburg. The couple later married on May 27, 1947; to this union three sons were born. The couple farmed together for over 50 years. They started just north west of Fredericksburg before moving in 1950 east of Fredericksburg; where they stayed until moving to town in 2000. Lyle’s job was also his hobby, farming. He loved farming and everything that went along with it. He enjoyed being able to work with his loving wife next to him for all of those years. Lyle was a life long member of the Fredericksburg Farmers Co-op and was on the board for 18 years. He was a very active member of the Peace United Church of Christ along with being a member of Antique Acres of Northeast Iowa. Aside from farming, Lyle enjoyed his weekly trips to the Amish and spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also partook in Share the Harvest, an organization that helps people around the world with hunger. Lyle was proud to be a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; two sisters, Ruth Wendt, Wilma Bigelow; two great-granddaughters Nora and Brynley Steege. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday August 29, 2015 at Peace United Church of Christ in Fredericksburg. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery with Lori Toso, Kerri Williamson, Danny Steege, Ryan Steege, Alex Steege, Jason Steege and Chris Steege serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lyle’s great-grandchildren. Obituary & photo published by Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.
