Description	:	Lyle W. Bauer was born to Noah and Sylvia Plank Bauer on Feb. 20, 1923 at Duquoin, KS. He died on Sept.5, 1997 at the MD Anderson Cancer Center of Houston, TX after battling Myelodispasia Syndrome, which is a form of leukemia, for over two years. The first years of Lyle's life were spent around Duquoin on the family farm. He attended Antelope Elementary School and Harper High School in Harper. Bauer was born to Noah and Sylvia Plank Bauer on Feb. 20, 1923 at Duquoin, KS. The first years of Lyle's life were spent around Duquoin on the family farm. He attended Antelope Elementary School and Harper High School in Harper. Lyle walked to school many times which resulted in him having an interest in track and field. Lyle met Glenda Weir, his future wife through unusual circumstances. Glenda was teacher school and some of her students set her up to meet Lyle after a basketball game ona cold night in February. The result of this initial meeting was a marriage that occurred exactly eight months later on Dec. 8, 1946. Two sons were added to this couples life over the next several years. Tom was born in 1949 and Greg was born in 1952. Lyle accepted Christ in his early teen years and was a faithful follower of Christ's calling and a student of the Bible. Lyle was involved in many activities of the church including Church Chairman, Elder, Trustee, Sunday School teacher and MYF sponsor. He served as a member on the Building Committee which built the current structure. Lyle also helped get the Danville Coop built and he served as President of the Kansas Association of Conservation Districts for four years. He is survived by his wife, Glenda; two sons Tom and Greg Bauer; one granddaughter, Kodi; and one grandson, Zach; a sister, Jane Eck and a brother Norman.
