Lyle Wayne Muser was born June 24, 1930, to parents Mayo and Katherine (Ebbenga) Muser on the home farm two miles south of Erwin. Muser, 83, of De Smet, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Lyle Wayne Muser was born June 24, 1930, to parents Mayo and Katherine (Ebbenga) Muser on the home farm two miles south of Erwin. He received his education at Erwin Consolidated School, graduating in 1948. During his childhood he witnessed many struggles growing up in the 30s. Lyle married Donna Carlson on Sept. 18, 1949, at Bryant. They farmed in the Erwin community until retirement. They moved into De Smet in 2006. Lyle worked at the De Smet Sale Barn before working for Magness Livestock in Huron for over 30 years. He served on the Erwin school board, the Hartland Township board where he was treasurer for many years, the Clara Lutheran Church board holding many offices and the Clara Lutheran Cemetery board. He played on the Erwin softball team for years, drove school bus for the Erwin School and volunteered at the Laura Ingalls Wilder pageant for many years. He enjoyed calling square dancing for the Erwin Buckles and Bows. His favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing with his family. Lyle is survived by his wife, Donna of De Smet; three daughters, Kathy Lubinus of Platte, Marlene (Randy) Knutson of Miller and Susan (Ken) Dolph of Christiansburg, Va.; one son, Bill (Nita) Muser of De Smet; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Logan of De Smet and Mareldine Blake of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Calvin, LeRoy and Darrell; and his stepmother, Evelyn Muser.
