Lyllis was born February 18, 1929 in Eddyville, Nebraska to James B. and Amelia C. (Specht) Kile. Lyllis grew up in Eddyville and graduated from Eddyville High School with the class of 1946. She then attended Kearney State College for one year. Lyllis was united in marriage to Lyle E. Veal on May 25, 1947 in Kearney, Nebraska. Veal, 83, of Kearney, Nebraska, died Saturday, February 25, 2012, at St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. Lyllis was born February 18, 1929 in Eddyville, Nebraska to James B. and Amelia C. (Specht) Kile. Lyllis grew up in Eddyville and graduated from Eddyville High School with the class of 1946. She then attended Kearney State College for one year. Lyllis was united in marriage to Lyle E. Veal on May 25, 1947 in Kearney, Nebraska. Eight children were blessed to this marriage; Kaye, Bill, Lynne, Nancy, Cindy, Merry, Bob and Jim. The family moved to Elm Creek in 1947, to Davenport, Nebraska in 1952, and in 1962, moved to Overton, Nebraska. Lyllis spent many years as the Postmaster at the Overton Post Office and was an active member of the Overton United Methodist Church, where she served on various church organizations and the Methodist Church Women for over 50 years. Lyllis was past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, past queen of Daughters of the Nile, a member of the retired postal workers and the U.C.I.C. Extension Club, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the National Association of Postmasters of the United States. Lyllis loved to read, bake and cook. Her greatest love was her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors are: husband: Lyle Veal of Kearney, Nebraska; sons: Bill & Karen Veal of Lincoln, Nebraska, Bob & Ronda Veal of North Platte, Nebraska, Jim Veal of Knob Noster, Missouri; daughters: Kaye & Larry Monks of Limon, Colorado, Lynne & Jeff Scott of Twin Falls, Idaho, Nancy & Walter Richmond of Staunton, Virginia, Cindy Veal of Kearney, Nebraska, Merry & David Butler of Kearney, Nebraska One brother: Art & Beverly Kile of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister: Mary Jane Houchin of Eddyville, Nebraska; Twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Lyllis was preceded in death by: parents; three brothers, Ben, Bob & James Kile; grandson, Aaron Smith and son-in-law, Steven Bowie. Burial was in the Overton Cemetery, Overton, NE.
