Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery, Ida County, Iowa. He was born at Sherman, Chautauqua County, New York, on Oct. 1, 1838. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery, Ida County, Iowa. He was born at Sherman, Chautauqua County, New York, on Oct. 1, 1838. He was educated in the common schools of his home community, living with his parents on a farm until 1860, when he went to California and remained until 1865, when he returned to New York state and married Miss Lucina D. Eldred at Corry, Pa., Dec. 26, 1867. They made their home in Sherman, NY, where two sons were born to them, Burton E. and George Romain. In the spring of 1882, the family came to Iowa settling on a farm in Blaine Township, Ida County, where they resided until the spring of 1900, when they moved to Ida Grove, making this city their permanent residence. Mr. Wilcox's younger son passed away after a prolonged illness on Jan. 24, 1910. His own companion departed this life on Sept. 13, 1915. He is survived by one son and grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the residence of Mrs. Romain Wilcox of Ida Grove, Iowa, with whom the aged gentleman made his home. Rev. Thomas M. Funk of the Church of God had charge of the services.
