She was born Aug. 21, 1940, in Marshalltown to John Merle and Juanita Arlene (Deal) Curley. She grew up in Zearing, attended Zearing Public School and graduated from Zearing High School in 1958. She married Harold "Deke" Donald on Aug. 23, 1958, at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Zearing. She worked most of her life as a certified nurse aide, working 24 years in the Long Term Care at Story County Hospital in Nevada. She was a founding member of the Zearing First Responders and served as a CPR instructor. She was a member of the Central Iowa Water Garden Association and St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Zearing. She had a green thumb, enjoyed trees, water ponds and gardening. Survivors include her husband, Harold, of Zearing; two sons, Chris (and Mylinda) of Promise City and Tracy (and Debbie) of Runnells; a daughter, Joan (and Ron) Hinders of St. Anthony; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her mother, Juanita Carver of Colo; her mother-in-law, Beatrice Donald of Story City; and three sisters, Charlene Jarboe of Fernald, Ellen Herwehe of Des Moines and Marsha Hogan of Overland Park, Kan. She was preceded in death by her father, Merle Curley, and one brother, Dennis Curley. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 5, at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Zearing with Father Jon Seda officiating. Burial was in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing. Fredregill Funeral Home, Zearing, handled arrangements."
