The Ambulance crew was called to the Lynn Hoelting farm in the late afternoon only to find Mr. Hoelting had already passed away. Lynn had been hospitalized about a month ago but had been at home since that time and had been around somewhat giving and appearance of improvement. Mr. Hoelting had been an active member of the community in the short years of his adult life. For many years he helped provide summer work for most area youth by his sponsorship of detasselling workforce. He had a love of baseball that led him to coaching of the town's American Junior Legion and Midget baseball teams. He and his wife, Pam, operated the Cafe in town for a number of years and in the last several years, they owned and operated Hoelting's Food Mart. He was active in church and community affairs in many different areas. His death leaves a large hole in the community hard to fill. Mr Hoelting is survived by his wife, Pam, three children at home: Amanda, Jessie and Thomas; his mother, Helen Hoelting of Lawrence; a sister, Janis and husband Merle Schmieding of Gresham, Nebraska mother-in-law, Carolyn Brennfoerder of Lawrence, relatives and a host of friends. Although funeral services are not final as we go to press, they will be held Friday morning with Rosary Services on Thursday night. =========================================== The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, June 30, 1994; pg. 1 Funeral services for Lynn Hoelting were held Friday, June 24 at Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence at 10:30 a.m. Rev. John J. McCabe of Hastings celebrated the Mass of the Resurrection. Acolyte was Vince Ostdiek and Lector was Don Pohlmeier. Vicki Kucera was the Song Leader accompanied by Organist, Linda Ostdiek. Servers were Toby Streff, Sam __ockman and Mike Ostdiek. Pall Bearers were Michael Streff, Wayne Kohmetscher, __en Ostdiek, George Rempe, Jr., David __ome and Joe Theer. In recognition of his membership in the Chalice Club in the Knight's of Columbus's Fourth Degree, the family was presented a chalice engraved with his name at the conclusion of Mass. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery with Father McCabe performing graves side services. Rosary service was held Thursday evening at Sacred Heart Church. Lynn Allen Hoelting was born February 25, 1960 in Hastings, one of three children of Ralph and Helen Svoboda Hoelting. He passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 21, 1994, at his farm home following an illness of some time. Mr. Hoelting was reared on the family farm east of St. Stephens. After attending elementary school at St. Stephen, he graduated from Lawrence High School in 1978. His adult life was spent in the Lawrence community. On August 25, 1979 he married Pam Brennfoerder at St. Stephen's church (sic). To this union three children were born. Lynn spent all of adult life in the Lawrence community. In addition to farming, at first in partnership with his dad, and following his death, on his own, he did a variety of other jobs. For many years, he operated "Hoelting's Detasseling Co." helping to provide summer employment for many of the younger members of not only Lawrence, but many of the surrounding communities. The Hoeltings owned and operated the Village Inn Cafe from 1981 to 1989 before buying the grocery store in Lawrence in 1989 and have operated it since that time. Mr. Hoelting was active in the community. He will long be remembered for his 15 years of coaching the American Legion baseball program in Lawrence and helped organize and manage several baseball leagues of which Lawrence played. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and for many years, was chairman of their youth activities programs. He was also a member of the Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus. Lynn was a volunteer member of the Lawrence Fire Department and served as an Emergency Medical Technician for ten years. He was a member of and served as an officer in the Lawrence Chamber of Columbus. Recognizing his contributions to the community, the Knights of Columbus, the Fire Dept. and members of the current baseball teams in Lawrence sat together as groups during the Funeral Mass. Mr. Hoelting will be remembered as a faithful husband, devoted father, Catholic adult, and good neighbor by his family and friends. He volunteered many hours of service to the community, church, and Service organizations he belonged to. His friendly disposition made him take time for everyone. Lynn was preceded in death by his father, Ralph, and a sister who was still born at birth. He is survived by his wife, Pam, three children at home: Amanda, Jessica and Thomas (TJ); his mother, Helen Hoelting; one sister: Janis Schmieding and husband Merle of Gresham, Nebraska; relatives and a host of friends.
