Description	:	Lynne F. Smolnik, 71, of Omaha, passed from this life on January 23, 2017. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 4500 Linden Drive, Kearney on February 10th beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Gibbon Riverside Cemetery. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Lynne Francine Smolnik (Stearley) was born on November 7, 1945 to Gerald and Phyllis Stearley. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Lynne Francine Smolnik (Stearley) was born on November 7, 1945 to Gerald and Phyllis Stearley. Lynne went to elementary school in District 37 and then proceeded on to Shelton Public Schools for the remainder of her childhood education. Upon graduation from Shelton High School, Lynne attended C.E. School of Commerce in Omaha. It was while she was going to school that she met her husband, Richard Smolnik. They were married in 1964 and out of their union; two children Richard Jr (Smolnik) and Elaine (Smolnik-Keup) were born. In 1983, Lynne and Richard divorced and Lynne and her children moved to Gibbon where Lynne became the Secretary to the Superintendent at the local high school. She stayed in her position with the school district for 16 years. In 2001, Lynne moved to Omaha to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She worked in the payroll department for First National Bank until her retirement in 2010. She loved to crochet and garden. Lynne is survived by her sister, Joyce Bauer and husband Vern of Grand Island; brother, Dale Stearley and wife Carol of Gibbon; sister, Mary Wrede of Grand Island; sister, Susan Farley and husband Jim of Wilton, CA; brother, Richard Stearley of Arcada, CA.; daughter, Elaine Keup of Papillion; Grandchildren Adam, Zach and Megan Keup of Papillion and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and son.
