Read More	"Red" August 11, 1927 - May 27, 2018 Lynneus Earl "Red" Bolken was born August 11, 1927, at Denison, Iowa, the son of Fred and Delta Bolken. He passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety years, 9 months and 16 days. Red received his education in the Denison Community Schools and was a graduate of Denison High School with the class of 1945. He enlisted in the military November 1, 1945, and served his country as a clerk, typist in the United States Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge from the service January 15, 1947, Red returned to Denison. He was hard working and held many jobs after leaving the service including the Railroad, Crawford County Roads Department and Farmland Foods. He retired from his 20 year career at Farmland in 1985 and hit the golf course. On April 18, 1955, Red was united in marriage to Arlene Whited in Worthington, Minnesota, and they were blessed with four children. Arlene passed away in 1979. Serving as a caddy as a young boy of twelve years old, golfing was his passion – which included four holes in one. He also enjoyed socializing with the coffee group at Burger King, going to the casinos, fishing at Lake View, Okoboji and local ponds and pheasant hunting when he was younger. Red especially enjoyed time with his family. He was an avid story teller and relayed many of his childhood escapades with his children and grandchildren. He had a special fondness for his cat Jake, which he had as a companion for twenty-three years. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Arlene; two brothers, Robert "Bud" and Ken; and one sister, Marge. Survivors include: three daughters, Mary and husband, Jeff; Jean and husband, Tim, and Karen and husband, Dean; one son, Chris; six grandchildren, Erin, Patti, David, Rebecca, Stephanie and Kayla; twelve great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
