Description	:	M. Alice Capps May is the daughter of Ransom W. Capps and Sarah Catherine Stewart Cliborne Capps. She had one brother, John Capps, and seven known half siblings. Her documented half siblings are Cora Capps, Charles Capps, James Capps, Mary Elizabeth Cliborne Hobson, Susan A Cliborne Hobson, James Alexander Cliborne, and Sarah C Cliborne May. Her parents were among the first pioneers to Cleveland County, Arkansas, migrating from South Carolina via Mississippi and Alabama about 1840. Capps and Sarah Catherine Stewart Cliborne Capps. She had one brother, John Capps, and seven known half siblings. Her documented half siblings are Cora Capps, Charles Capps, James Capps, Mary Elizabeth Cliborne Hobson, Susan A Cliborne Hobson, James Alexander Cliborne, and Sarah C Cliborne May. Her parents were among the first pioneers to Cleveland County, Arkansas, migrating from South Carolina via Mississippi and Alabama about 1840. Both parents disappeared, presumably died, during the civil war or reconstruction years. In the 1870 census, she and her brother John are in the household of her half sister, Elizabeth Cliborne Hobson, and her husband John Hobson. She married David Young May, of another pioneer Cleveland County family, on December 31, 1878. Together, they had seven children. She died at age 36, leaving the seven children ranging in age from 1 year to 19 years. Her marriage certificate identifies her only as M. Alice Capps. However, because she had three grand daughters with given name "Mildred", and one grand daughter with the full name sake "Mildred Alice", the family believes her first name is "Mildred". Some genealogy researchers list her fist name as "Mary", but no document has been found to date to support that assumption. It is also possible that her first name is "Martha". Since that is the first name of her father's sister, it could be a Capps family name. Her first name is a mystery at this time.
