Harvey Perkins and Amelia (Lutz) Perkins, was born on a farm near Fairmont on March 13, 1929, and passed away Sunday, November 5, 2006, at his home in York, at the age of 77 years, seven months and 22 days. Harvey Perkins and Amelia (Lutz) Perkins, was born on a farm near Fairmont on March 13, 1929, and passed away Sunday, November 5, 2006, at his home in York, at the age of 77 years, seven months and 22 days. In May of 1947, he was married to Treva Hall Perkins. Dean was a trucker and life-long farmer, who took pride in planting straight rows and tending weed-free fields. He loved the farm and the smell of fresh turned soil. His grandchildren were a great source of pride and comfort to him, and he will be greatly missed by all. Dean was a hard-working man who endeavored to provide well for his family. However, he will long be remembered by those who knew him for his quick wit and ornery personality. In his leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed being with his buddies. This group was infamous for gathering at Johnnie White's garage and became known by the letters CAVE (Citizens Against Virtually Everything). Other precious times for Dean were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who will long remember his wise cracks and that he loved to be teased in return. If Dean could speak at this time, he would say that life was good to him, a wonderful wife, children and grandchildren who he loved and was loved in return. It was a simple and uncomplicated life, but for Dean, the perfect fit. He is survived by his wife, Treva; his children, Ronald and wife, Clare Perkins, Rex and wife, Janet Perkins, Marla and husband Alan Chrisman, Roger and wife, Cindy Perkins , Gayla Knight and husband Terry; sisters, Marjorie Eaton, Charlotte Laschanzky and husband, Jerry, and Donna Isaacs and husband Dale; brother-in-law, Richard Durham. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Amelia, step-father, Lou Barker; brother, Max Perkins; two sisters, Betty Durham and Norman Laschanzky and by his granddaughter, Kristy Perkins. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 9, at 10:30 a.m. from the United Methodist Church in McCool Junction with Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Delores Bailey accompanied the duets of Tom Hess and Lynn Hall, who sang "On Eagle's Wings", "Precious Lord, Take My Hand," and "River in Judea." The congregational hymn was Hymn of Promise." Casket bearers were Chad, Trent and Cody Chrisman, Adam and Troy Perkins, and Brandon and Devin Knight. Honorary bearers were Bill Jacobsen, Gene Jackson, Jerome Smith, John Upton, Larry Blum, Tim Jackson, Max Smith and John Burback. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
