Description	:	The following is from the Bloomfield Democrat (Davis Co. IA) issue of August 23, 1911 "A WYOMING TRAGEDY Former Davis County Man and Two Children Killed at Grade Crossing Relatives in this county received word Sunday that Willis McFarland, formerly of this county, with two of his children had been killed at a rail-way crossing near Douglas, Wyo., the day before. While details of the accident were lacking, the story as near as could be learned is that Mr. McFarland with three of his children, were in a new car which they had recently purchased, and were struck by a train... Read More	The following is from the Bloomfield Democrat (Davis Co. IA) issue of August 23, 1911 "A WYOMING TRAGEDY Former Davis County Man and Two Children Killed at Grade Crossing Relatives in this county received word Sunday that Willis McFarland, formerly of this county, with two of his children had been killed at a rail-way crossing near Douglas, Wyo., the day before. While details of the accident were lacking, the story as near as could be learned is that Mr. McFarland with three of his children, were in a new car which they had recently purchased, and were struck by a train at a grade crossing. The accident occurred about fifty miles from their home. It was first thought that the father and two sons had lost their lives, but one son, it seems, whom it was first thought had been killed, had lain in a state of coma, while the daughter, who was also in the accident, succumbed to injuries received. Mr. McFarland was a man of middle age. Mrs. McFarland was before her marriage a Miss Duke, daughter of W. F. Duke, and formerly lived south of Drakesville. Mr. McFarland was a son of Marshall McFarland and was a half brother of Scott McFarland of this county. He was a brother-in-law of C. W. Hambilton of near Belknap. The bodies arrived at Drakesville Wednesday morning where burial will be made today."
