Description	:	Mabel B. Duba, 86, of Platte, SD passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Platte Care Center. Funeral services are 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Olive Presbyterian Church in Platte. A Committal Service will follow at Eagle Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation with the family, will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Friday, March 23, 2012 at Mount Funeral Home in Platte. A 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service will follow. Mabel Duba was born on June 12, 1925, to LeRoy and Helen (Rosencrance) Harding near Platte, SD, where she was raised, attended school and graduated from Platte High School in 1943. She then attended Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD, where she received her teaching certificate. Mabel was united in marriage to Roger Duba on January 1, 1946 in Platte. The couple lived in Harrold, SD until 1962 when they moved to the Duba family farm in Brule County. They were together until Roger's passing in August of 1989. Mabel continued to live on the farm until 1993 when she moved into Platte. She was employed as an aide in the Platte School until retiring at age 79. She became a resident of the Platte Care Center in September of 2007. Mrs. Duba was a very active member of Olive Presbyterian Church and received a Lifelong Service Award from the Statewide Presbyterian Women in 2007 in Platte. She enjoyed time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and also her regular coffee times with friends. Grateful for having shared in Mabel's life: her two sons and three daughters: Jerry (Myra) Duba of Rapid City, SD, Judy (Robert) Fredrickson of Arlington, SD, Jane (Jim) Roberts of Pierre, SD, Jodi Hemingson of Minneapolis, MN and Jim (Donna) Duba of Platte, SD; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. Mabel was preceded in death by: her husband, Roger; her parents; four sisters: LaRue Henthorn, Margery Fennema, Doris Knight and Helen Schroeder; two brothers: Chester Harding and Leslie Harding; an infant son, James Alan and a grandson, Rob Fredrickson.
