She moved to Newport News in 1942 with her first late husband, Isom B. Smith Sr., and her four children. She was a graduate of Hindmand Settlement School in Knott County, Ky. She retired from Grand Union Grocery Stores with 29 years of service. She was a member of West Hampton Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and the church's oldest member. She was a valued Christian person with wholesome Christian values. She is reunited with her late husband, Isom B. Smith Sr., her late son, Isom B. Smith Jr., and her late daughter, Cora S. Pepe. She is survived by her son, William E. Smith Sr. and his wife, Betty A. Smith, of Toano; her daughter, Irene S. Saine of Newport News; and her one and only living sibling, her sister, Eunice Wade and her husband, Arthur Wade, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be interred in Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, Va., following a private family service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
