Description	:	Mabel C. Swanson was born in rural Ithaca, NE on September 28, 1916 to George and Anna (Otto) Jacobs. She attended grade school at District #47 in what was known as the Plainview Community. She graduated from Wahoo High School in 1934 and was the Class Speaker. She attended the Lincoln School of Commerce for a short time and then worked for the next four years as a legal secretary and court reporter in the Saunders County Attorney's office in Wahoo. She also worked in the County Clerk's office. Mabel was married to Lester C. Swanson on January 3, 1940 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Ithaca, NE. They lived in Lincoln, Nebraska City, Auburn and Hastings while Lester was working for the US Civil Service. They returned to Ceresco in 1949 where they became involved with the Magnus Swanson Sons Ford dealership. In 1971, Mabel and Lester purchased the family Ford dealership and changed the name to Swanson Ford. She was actively involved with the company for many years. Mabel passed away on June 24, 2012 at the Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo at the age of 95 years. Church was the center of Mabel's life. As a member of the Ceresco Evangelical Covenant Church, she served on the Church Board, was Sunday School Superintendent and teacher and held several Covenant Women officer positions. Mabel was very involved in the Ceresco community and supported it by serving in leadership roles in a variety of organizations including the Booster Club, PTA and other Ceresco Public School activities and she served as a 4-H leader. Mabel also enjoyed gardening, arranging flowers, baking, sewing and craft activities. Mabel is survived by her children and spouses, Darrel and Dianna Swanson, Ceresco, Anne Rissler, Palos Verdes, CA, Douglas and Elaine Swanson, Gary and Nataliya Swanson, all Ceresco, Jean Swanson, Sausalito, CA; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister in law, Margie Swanson, Ceresco; aunt, Edna Tuller, Seattle, WA; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester C. Swanson; sister Alvera Ziegenbein and son in law, Larry Rissler.
