Burial was in Hills of Rest Memorial Park in Sioux Falls. Mrs. Abrahamsen died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Mabel Skovly was born March 2, 1921 to Anton and Sophie (Holmlund) Skovly in Hendricks. She lived in Hendricks until moving with her family to Sioux Falls in 1930. She grew up in Sioux Falls where she received her elementary education and attended Washington High School. On May 29, 1942, she and Sheldon Oleson were married in Sioux Falls. The couple lived in Sioux Falls where she was an active member of First Lutheran Church. Her husband died Dec. 10, 1965. In 1941, she began her employment in purchasing with Sioux Falls Book and Stationery. She retired from there in 1968 after 27 years of service. In 1968, she and George Abrahamsen were married in Sioux Falls. He, also, preceded her in death in 1989. He had been a mayor in Marshall for many years. She lived in the Good Samaritan Village since his death. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Brass of Tea, S.D.; one step-daughter, Sharon Peterson of Annandale; her sister, Mary Herreid of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren; several sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
