Mabel Clare Ball, daughter of Samuel W. and Mary Ball, was born January 7, 1886, in Clear Creek Precinct, Polk County, Nebraska. She departed this life May 9, 1930. Age forty-four years, four months and two days. She was united in marriage to George McMeekin on February 12, 1908. To this union six children were born: Hazel B., Gladys L. Treadway, Willis M., Wallace W., Donna Jean and Genon Doris, who with their father will miss her loving guidance. She leaves her beloved mother, Mrs. Mary Ball and two brothers, Philip J. and Ralph V., all of Shelby, also a host of frieds to mourn her departure. She was a member of the United Brethern church since her childhood and of the Chieftain Castle Royal Highlander lodge to which she lived a life of faithful service. After suffering for nearly three years the end came peacefully. Funeral services conducted by Rev. J. W. Stiverson, assisted by Rev J.M Herrmann, were held Sunday at 2 o'clock from the Shelby U. B. church and the remains laid to rest in the Shelby Graceland cemetery.
