Description	:	Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” August 28, 1985: Mabel E. McGachey, 73, of 214 N. Moore died at 10:42 p.m. Aug. 27, 1985, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was born Oct. 24, 1911, in Ottumwa to Henry and Sadie Thomas Fleming. She lived in Ottumwa all her life except for 1930-48 when she lived in Chicago. She worked at the Snow White Laundromat and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She married Ernest Paul McGachey on Jan. 1, 1929, in Chicago. She is survived by a son, Douglas Paul of Bloomfield; a daughter, Verna Mae Fuller of Sarcoxie, Mo.; three grandsons; two sisters, Helen Palmer of Ottumwa and Freda Eslinger of Rock Island, Ill.; and a brother, Harry Fleming of Agency. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth McGachy. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Rev. Paul C. Hart officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. A Christian wake will [be] at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in her name.
