She was born on Sept. 26, 1927, in Buena Vista Township, Schuyler County, Ill., the daughter of the late John and Charlotte (Tucker) Ross. " Pete" Heath, 85, of El Dorado, passed away at 7:40 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville, Ill. She was born on Sept. 26, 1927, in Buena Vista Township, Schuyler County, Ill., the daughter of the late John and Charlotte (Tucker) Ross. She was married to Joseph Heath on Jan. 9, 1960, in Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1992. Also preceding her in death were one brother, Robert Ross; one nephew, Rodney Diseron; two sisters-in-law, Rayetta Ross and Sonja Ross; and one brother-in-law, Russel Tomlinson Mabel grew up in Rushville, Ill., graduating in 1945. She taught for two years at the Flatwoods and West Center schools, later moving to Kansas. She was the co-owner and operator of El Dorado Kirby Vacuum Cleaner Service for many years, retiring in 2003. She was a member of the Harvest Chapel in Christ Church in El Dorado. She loved children and was very generous with her time. She would often find children she could help by either: tutoring, having birthday parties or filling unmet needs. Surviving are three stepdaughters including, Melody Hays and husband Scot of Wichita; one step son; eight step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; two brothers. Byron Ross and Maurice Ross both of Rushville; two sisters, Lela Tomlinson of Palmyra, Mo., and Ruth Diseron and husband Richard of Huntsville, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Frances Ross of Rushville; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Wood Funeral Home, in Rushville, with Reverend Rosalee Ross officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Graveside committal services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Sunset Lawn Cemetery in El Dorado, with Pastor John Hurst officiating.
