Description	:	Wife of Hampton T Hall. Mabel Elsie, the fourth child of Harris L. and Celia Russell Johnson, was born December 8, 1903, at the family farm near Numa, in Appanoose County, Iowa. She departed this life August 22, 1997, at St. Mary's Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Elsie was reared near Numa and graduated in 1922 from Centerville High School. She taught school in several rural schools while continuing her education at Drake University, Cedar Falls Teachers College and earning her degree from Iowa State University. Mabel Elsie, the fourth child of Harris L. and Celia Russell Johnson, was born December 8, 1903, at the family farm near Numa, in Appanoose County, Iowa. She departed this life August 22, 1997, at St. Mary's Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Elsie was reared near Numa and graduated in 1922 from Centerville High School. She taught school in several rural schools while continuing her education at Drake University, Cedar Falls Teachers College and earning her degree from Iowa State University. She taught in public schools in Iowa and later in La Grange, Illinois. Elsie married Joseph W. Jensen June 27, 1937, at her parents' home. Their home was blessed with two children. Joe died January 28, 1959, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Elsie married Hampton T. Hall March 30, 1966, and he passed away September 22, 1973. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ernest and Bert Johnson, two sisters, Osee Knouf and Fairy Moody. She is survived by her son and his wife; grandson and his wife and granddaughter; her daughter and her husband. She is also survived by the only remaining child of Harris and Celia, her brother, Paul Johnson and family of Stone Mountain, Ga., and several nieces and nephews. Elsie was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority; National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Mayflower Chapter of Cedar Rapids, Ia.; former member of the Retired Teachers' Association of Lubbock, Tex.; a member of Agape United Methodist Church of Lubbock, Tex., having transferred her membership from St. Paul's Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids in 1990. Memorial services were held at Agape United Methodist Church August 26, 1997, with Rev. Steve Campbell officiating. Cremation was from Rest Haven Funeral Home, and inurnment will be in the Numa Cemetery beside her husband, J. W. Jensen, at a later date.
