Nordahl, 67, of Gackle, ND, formerly a long-time resident of the Litchville, ND community, died Sunday morning, March 16, at the Gackle Hospital in Gackle, ND, where she had been hospitalized for about three weeks, due to a chronic illness. Mabel Hansina Giste was born December 6, 1901, at the family farm home three and a half miles north of Hastings, ND, the daughter of Martin Giste and Karen (Pederson) Giste. Nordahl, 67, of Gackle, ND, formerly a long-time resident of the Litchville, ND community, died Sunday morning, March 16, at the Gackle Hospital in Gackle, ND, where she had been hospitalized for about three weeks, due to a chronic illness. Mabel Hansina Giste was born December 6, 1901, at the family farm home three and a half miles north of Hastings, ND, the daughter of Martin Giste and Karen (Pederson) Giste. She attended the local rural school and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she worked. She and John B. Nordahl were married August 7, 1925 at Moorhead, MN. They began farming north of Hastings, ND where they lived for 13 years. In the year 1938, they moved to the Litchville community, where they lived until the fall of 1967 when they moved to Gackle. She was a member of the Spring Creek Lutheran Church and the ALCW until 1967 when her membership was transferred to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle. Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Inez (Mrs. James) Anderson, Evansville, MN; Joyce (Mrs. Wesley) Poykko, of Gackle, ND; Adeline, (Mrs. Clarence) Meidinger, Edgeley, ND; the grandchildren, one brother, Martin Giste, Kathryn, ND; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Norberg, Valley City, ND; Mrs. Amelia Holland, Hastings, ND; Alice (Mrs. Harry) Carlson, Kathryn, ND. She was preceded in death by here parents, one brother, Henry in 1964 land one brother in infancy. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 1969, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle with Rev. John F. Meretz, pastor, officiating.
