Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene R. Breedlove and Pearl Kittrell Breedlove. She was the widow of George Garland Evans. Mrs. Evans was a devoted mother and friend to many. Read More	HENDERSON — Mabel Breedlove Evans, 97, formerly of Henderson, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012, in Colonial Heights, Va. Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene R. Breedlove and Pearl Kittrell Breedlove. She was the widow of George Garland Evans. Mrs. Evans was a devoted mother and friend to many. Loved by all that knew her, she was gifted with a wise sense of humor that lightened every family gathering. She was a member of Chester Baptist Church in Chester, Va. A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Island Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. J. Marshall Neathery. Surviving are a daughter, Eugenia E. Grandstaff and husband, Coleman, of Chester, Va.; a son, George Thomas Evans and wife, Myrt, of South Chesterfield, Va.; a granddaughter, Amanda Grant and husband, Jim, of British Virgin Islands; a brother, Eugene Breedlove, of Alexandria, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. The family received friends Monday, April 9, 2012, from 5-8 p.m., at the home of her daughter, 600 Wellshire Place, Chester, VA 23836 and at the cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Island Creek Baptist Church, 950 Stagecoach Road, Henderson, NC 27537. Arrangements are by Flowers Funeral Home.
