Kutz (ca. 1895 ~ December 05, 1915) * KILLS SWEETHEART TURNS GUN ON SELF Mannford, Okla. -- Sheriff Lew wilder was notified over the phone Sunday that Dan Williams, a well known farmer of near Mannford, had shot Mabel Kutz*, a pretty school teacher who lived on the Hugh Wardlow place. A deputy was at once sent to the scene of the crime but Williams died before he could be brought in to town from a self inflicted pistol shot. It seems that Williams had been paying attention to Miss Kutz, who did not favor him. He made several efforts to interest the girl but she refused his advances. Finally he asked her to go to church last Sunday night and when she refused he went away morose and muttering to himself. He returned and asked Mabel if she intended to go with him and upon her refusal he pulled his revolver and shot her three times. Any one of the bullet wounds was sufficent to cause death. Williams then walked around the place and finally learning that officers were on their way to the scene he walked to a clump of trees and putting his pistol to his temple blew his brains out. The Bristow Record, December 9, 1915 Added by: Texan (#48297326)10/27/2016 ~~ ~ REJECTED SUITOR KILLS SCHOOL TEACHER AND SELF Drumright, Okla., Dec. 7. -- Because she repulsed his attentions and accepted those of other suitors, Dan Williams, a farmer, 23 years old, shot and killed Mabel Kutz, 20, a school teacher, in the Mannford district, twelve miles northeast of Drumright. Discarding the weapon with which he killed the school teacher, Williams drew another revolver from his pocket and shot himself through the head, dying instantly. The double tragedy was enacted at the girl's home, a mile from Mannford.
