Mabel was born at Norfolk, Nebraska on May 5, 1921 to Joseph R. and Martha (Deitloff) Benish. Mabel was baptized as a child but when no record was found was baptized again on April 4, 1996 by the Reverend Dan Flanagan of the United Methodist Church. Mabel attended Norfolk Public Schools. Mabel was born at Norfolk, Nebraska on May 5, 1921 to Joseph R. and Martha (Deitloff) Benish. Mabel was baptized as a child but when no record was found was baptized again on April 4, 1996 by the Reverend Dan Flanagan of the United Methodist Church. Mabel attended Norfolk Public Schools. Mabel was married to Ruben Brandenburg on October 4, 1942 at 1st Evangelical Church in Norfolk. She farmed with Ruben at Route 3, northwest of Norfolk until Ruben died on August 25, 1958. Mabel then sold the farm and moved to Norfolk where she worked from October 1959 until January 1984 at the Hesteds 5 and 10 Cent Store in downtown Norfolk where her sister, Myrtle Benish, also worked. Mabel maintained her own household until April 2008 when she moved to The Homestead Assisted Living and then to Heritage of Bel Air in January 2009. Mabel was a member of the Westridge United Methodist Church. Mabel is survived by: sisters-in-laws Frieda Benish and Wilma Benish, as well as niece, Karen Casselman, and nephews Randall, Richard, and Rodney Benish. She is also survived by 14 great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. Mabel was preceded in death by: sister, Myrtle Benish and brothers, Roy and Lyle Benish. Burial was in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk, NE.
