Marion "Doc", the man she married, was born in Pennsylvania and was a dentist in Piqua, Ohio. Doc owned a farm in Piqua with a large barn. Doc and Dori retired to Lake Helen, Volusia County, Florida, at the same time as Dori's brother Jim and his wife Lyvirgia and they built mirror houses right next door to each other. The houses each had buzzers so they could buzz each other when it was time to come over for drinks and cards! The houses were on Lake Macy and they had a dock and fishing boats. They also had hound dogs and hunted pheasant on the two and one half acres of land. In the 1950s, that area of Florida was very remote. It started to develop only after I-4 was built. The two couples were visited often by the families of Jim and Bill, the two sons of Jim and Lyvirgia Mee. Since Doc and Dori never had children they doted on their three grandnieces and two grandnephews. The property on the lake was a paradise for the five children. Dori developed emphysema later in life and was oxygen for the last few years of her life. She was a sweet lady and her family loved her and missed her when she passed away.
