She was born Oct. 26, 1917, in Cherokee County, to Sidney Lewis and Ida Hughes Smith. She attended area schools. On Dec. 31, 1934, she married William C. Samson at Lamar, Mo. She was born Oct. 26, 1917, in Cherokee County, to Sidney Lewis and Ida Hughes Smith. She attended area schools. On Dec. 31, 1934, she married William C. Samson at Lamar, Mo. He preceded her in death Oct. 22, 1985, at Joplin, Mo. Mrs. Samson was a homemaker. She also worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant at Parsons for four years. She was a lifetime resident of the Pittsburg area and attended the First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include two sons, William E. Samson of Pittsburg and Richard D. Samson of Bartlesville, Okla.; four daughters, Charlene Riedell of Gilbert, Ariz., Della Armstrong of Pittsburg, Wanda Elery of Forney, Texas, and Sharon Allen of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Roy, Alva and William T. Smith; five sisters, Celia Sherwood, Zenna Gaddy, Lillie McNeely, Leta Redd and Minnie Beaver; and five infant grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Sukraw and the Rev. Daryl Gaddy officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday.
