Mabel, a life long resident of Searcy County, born in Gilbert , Arkansas March 26, 1905, lived most of her life in Marshall. She married Robert Housley December 26, 1936. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Housley; her parents, Elisha and Jerusha Moore; twin sister, Mae Moore Morris; younger sister, Blaine Moore ; and three brothers, John Moore, Harrison Moore, and Barnett Moore. Mabel recently celebrated with a host of family and friends her 100th birthday, receiving proclamations and citations from President Bush, Governor Huckabee, Arkansas House of Representatives, Arkansas Senate, andf NBC television spokesman, Willard Scott. She graduated in 1956 from Arkansas State Teachers College now known as the University of Central Arkansas. Mabel taught elementary school in Searcy County for 42 years. She had endeared herself to many as an outstanding educator, speaker, and lover of people. Mabel was a cornerstone of genealogy heritage in Searcy County. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Marshall and Searcy County Teacher Retirement Association. Her passion for learning and teaching others about the goodness of life continued into her present days. Mabel had no biological children of her own, but she maintained a strong relationship with 66 nieces and nephews including great, great. Until the last few months, Mabel was an avid reader and her handwriting remained impeccable. She always enjoyed corresponding with her former students, friends, and family members and orchestrating all management responsibilities of her own home in Marshall. Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday April 3, at Roller Coffman Chapel in Marshall with Rev Billy Wheeler, officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation service preceding the funeral from 12:30 to 1:30 PM in the Chapel. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Osborne Cemetery. *
