Her short stay here on earth was long enough to endear her to the hearts of all who knew her. Mabel was a home loving girl, and was faithful to the church which she joined at the early age of 14 years in a revival meeting held by Rev. Carl Looney in June 1932. Mabel's last illness lasted about six weeks and in that time no one heard her murmur nor complain. She loved, life and wanted to live, but was willing to go when the summons came. She had no fear. She fell asleep, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus, Safe on His gentle breast There by His love o'er shaded, Sweetly her soul does rest". She leaves to mourn her loss her parents, one sister, one brother, two aunts, and a host of friends. Her going brings Heaven nearer, and makes it more real to those she leaves behind. The funeral services were conducted from Mt. Plains Methodist Church by her pastor, Rev. C. A. Brabston on Tuesday morning. November 6, and her . body was laid away in the Mt. Plains Cemetery, there to await a glorious awakening on the Resurrection Morn.
