Mabel was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Ruben V. Austin. Mabel was the matriarch of her family and a living link to the history of Iowa and America. Mabel will be remembered as a teacher, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed, and she will live always in our collective memories. Surviving are two daughters, Ann (Patrick) Austin Coffey, of Austin, and Sharon (Steven) Austin Bloom, of Redding, Conn.; grandchildren, Patrick Coffey, Carolyn Coffey Lynn, Susan Coffey, Matthew Reynolds, Andrew Page and Sara-Mae Winters; and a great-grandson, Jackson Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Ruben V. Austin; and a daughter, Sara Ellen Austin Winters. Memorials may be given to the Ruben V.
