Description	:	Mabel Rose Neal, age 88, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the daughter of Fred and Melusine (Voss) Nordman on January 30, 1925, Clarksville. She received her education and graduated from Clarksville High School in 1943. She attended Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls. In 1946 Mabel was united in marriage with Robert McDowell. Read More	Mabel Rose Neal, age 88, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the daughter of Fred and Melusine (Voss) Nordman on January 30, 1925, Clarksville. She received her education and graduated from Clarksville High School in 1943. She attended Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls. In 1946 Mabel was united in marriage with Robert McDowell. They lived and raised their two daughters in Clarksville. Bob died on June 27, 1969. Mabel drove school bus for Clarksville School for 20 years and also was the Clarksville City Clerk for 12 years. In 1981 she was married to Marquette Neal, and they continued living in Clarksville. Marquette died in 1993. Mabel was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville. She was a Charter member of the Clarksville American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star Lodge and served as Treasurer of the Clarksville Community Club for many years. Mabel loved spending her summers playing golf and enjoyed league. She enjoyed riding in RAGBRAI three times in 1977, 1978 and 1979. She enjoyed swimming and camping and was a member of the Hi-Lo Camping Club with Marquette. She was an avid Hawkeye fan with season football tickets for over 50 years. A fun time was had when riding the Hawkeye Express train to the games, and she attended multiple Hawkeye football bowl games. She also enjoyed bus trips with her friends and playing bingo. Mabel passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Manor Care Health Services in Waterloo of natural causes. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Randy McDowell; husbands, Robert McDowell and Marquette Neal; and her parents. Mabel is survived by two daughters, Jana Erickson and her husband, Dave of Huxley, IA, and Jo Stock and her husband, Dave of Waterloo, IA; five grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Vaughan, Jeremy (Davilynn) Erickson, Justin (Angelia Ruden) Erickson, Katy (Tim) Petersen, and Molly (Jim) Brouwer; and nine great-grandchildren, Megan, Shane, Rachel and Bailey Vaughan, Adeline, Victoria Erickson, Ryne and Morgan Erickson, and Jax Petersen. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at the Community United Methodist Church with burial in the Lynwood Cemetery both in Clarksville. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville, (319)278-4245, and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
