Mable was born May 29, 1916 to Harvey Abraham and Mertle "Mertie" Jane Norris Messamer on a farm where she lived her entire life except for a few months that were spent at Sunnybrook. After graduating from Adel High School she taught in rural Dallas County Schools. She married Leonard S. Snyder on her birthday in 1940. Mable was born May 29, 1916 to Harvey Abraham and Mertle "Mertie" Jane Norris Messamer on a farm where she lived her entire life except for a few months that were spent at Sunnybrook. After graduating from Adel High School she taught in rural Dallas County Schools. She married Leonard S. Snyder on her birthday in 1940. They celebrated 60 years of marriage and he passed away in 2000. They were blessed with two sons, Lowell (Li Hua) and Carroll (Mary). She was an active member of her church. She taught Sunday school class, sung in the choir and helped with the Women's Fellowship. Her family and friends loved her cooking and being entertained in her home, which she also enjoyed. She tended a large garden and preserved fruits and vegetables always having plenty of tomato plants because she loved tomatoes. Mable loved party games, traveling, gospel music and her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons; and grandchildren, Anthony, Allison and Brandon. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph (Fern) and Burton (Ethel); and sister, Mildred (Eric) Maahs.
