Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton with the Rev. Mark Smelzer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Anthon. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Sanderson was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Honey Creek, the son of Joseph and Ida (Billerveck) Sanderson. He graduated from Luton High School, where he served as captain of the basketball team. He married Mildred E. Meneffe Sept. 9, 1936, in Sioux City. The couple lived in the Siouxland area and moved to Mapleton in 1969. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Osborne Construction, Sioux City Excavation Co., Anderson Construction, and Treiber Construction. Mrs. Sanderson died Jan. 17, 1994. Survivors include six sons, Phillip and his wife, Joyce of Moville, Ronald and his wife, Audrey of Forest City, Gerald and his wife, Wendy of Cherokee, Clarence and Randy, both of Sioux City and Tim and his wife, Linda of Mapleton; three daughters, JoLynne and her husband, Charles Bolles of Sioux City, Patricia of Mapleton and Mary and her husband, Roger Luth of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a brother and his wife, Roy "Bud" and Marguarite of Sergeant Bluff; two sisters, Lulu Morrison of Honey Creek and Marie Clayton of Pierson; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Pfc.
