Mass of Christian burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. Con-celebrant will be Father Paul Louis Arts. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit choir with John Wagner as soloist. Lectors will be Jim Arts and Ben Stueve. Gift bearers will be Midge's grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Andrew Arts, Brett Beck, Justin Richeson, Dave Schwaller, Dean Schoeppner, Stan Romey and Nick Romey. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Church until the time of the Mass. Funeral arrangements are under direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Midge's family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Born Sept. 13, 1920, at Templeton, Iowa, Madeline Lauretta was a daughter of John and Katherine (Greteman) Schwaller. She spent her younger years in the Templeton area attending Sacred Heart School and later graduated from Manning High School. On Sept. 22, 1942, she married Frank Hoffman at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton, with Monsignor F.H. Huesman officiating. Midge and Frank made their home northeast of Dedham, and she worked outside the home at various jobs in the Carroll area. In 1985 the couple moved to Carroll. Midge was gifted at crocheting and received awards at the Iowa State Fair and also crocheted many items for family and friends. She enjoyed being around people, was a former member of St. Joseph Parish in Dedham, former member of Dedham American Legion Auxiliary, and was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll. Survivors include her daughters: Francie Schroeder and husband Steve of Georgetown, Texas, and Jane Arts and husband Jim of Omaha, Neb.; her son, Todd Hoffman and wife Julie of Dedham; her grandchildren: Sherry (John) Van Nice, Brett (Cathryn) Beck, Nathan (Adrianne) Schroeder, Jonathan Schroeder, Elizabeth Arts (Ben) Stueve, Andrew Arts, Heather (Justin) Richeson and Alison Hoffman; seven great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Elaine Schwaller of Templeton; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Midge was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank in 2009; her daughter Gloria in 2002; her sisters: Lucilla Steffenson, Beatrice Romey, Rita Murphy, Kay Schoeppner and Joan Jacobsen; and her brothers, Wilfred "Wip" Schwaller and Lambert Schwaller. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
