Description	:	Madelyn (Brown) Ladd passed away on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at her home in Oakland, surrounded by her family. She was born in Bath on Feb. 29, 1919, daughter of Alfred and Naomi (Marson) Brown. Read More	Madelyn (Brown) Ladd passed away on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at her home in Oakland, surrounded by her family. She was born in Bath on Feb. 29, 1919, daughter of Alfred and Naomi (Marson) Brown. Maddy graduated from Mexico High School in 1936 and completed her nursing program at the Sisters Hospital in Waterville. On Nov. 6, 1943, she married Blaine K. Ladd, and together they shared more than 65 years of marriage. She was employed by Thayer and Seton hospitals in Waterville, where she worked as a nurse anesthetist until 1982. Maddy enjoyed 20 years sailing with her husband after they retired and spent a lot of time at their camp on Salmon Lake. She truly loved and cherished her family and took great pride in everyone's accomplishments. Madelyn was predeceased by her parents; her son, Timothy Ladd; her sisters, Madge Libby, Sylvia Ladd, Shirley Hurley, and Norma Brown and a brother Clyde Brown. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Blaine Ladd; daughter Kathaleen Turner of Waterville and her husband, Glenn Turner; daughter-in-law Corda Kinzie; eight brothers, MJR Alton Brown of Randolph, Darryl of Livermore Falls, Neal of Bowdoinham, George of Richmond, Austin of South Gardiner, Gerald of Richmond, and Charlie of Whitefield; one sister, Arlene Geddes of Fort Fairfield; sister-in-law Rita Brown of Dixfield; a special nephew, Brooks Hurley and several wonderful nieces and nephews; five grandchildren, Brooks Ladd of Chelmsford, Mass., and his wife, Danielle, Spencer Ladd of Canaan and his wife, Li, Arthur Ladd of Waterville, Kristin (Turner) Cronkite of Augusta and her husband, Jerod, and Melanie Turner of Searsmont; five great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Roland Ladd, Nathan and Matthew Ladd, and Maddison Cronkite. The burial service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery on Mount Vernon Road in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mrs. Ladd's memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 170 U.S. Route 1, Suite 200, Falmouth, ME 04105.
