Description	:	Madge Estelle Gaines was born to Bethiah (Bessie Cowles) and Leonard Gaines in Arlington, Nebraska on January 10, 1911. She grew up in Arlington and Fremont, Nebraska and obtained a Master's Degree in Education, attending Midland College and The University of California, Berkley. Madge taught for 43 years in Nebraska high schools, finishing her career as a principal in Clarkson. After retiring, she kept books for Irv's Deli in Fremont and helped out by frying fish for the Friday night catfish fry. Read More	Madge Estelle Gaines was born to Bethiah (Bessie Cowles) and Leonard Gaines in Arlington, Nebraska on January 10, 1911. She grew up in Arlington and Fremont, Nebraska and obtained a Master's Degree in Education, attending Midland College and The University of California, Berkley. Madge taught for 43 years in Nebraska high schools, finishing her career as a principal in Clarkson. After retiring, she kept books for Irv's Deli in Fremont and helped out by frying fish for the Friday night catfish fry. Madge was married to Harold Larsen, who was of Danish heritage and together they built their home in Fremont, next door to his family. She was a member of all the state and local teachers associations in Nebraska, charter member of the Fremont Retired Teachers Association and was a leader in the fight to improve retirement benefits for teachers. Madge was preceded in death by husband, Harold Larsen, sisters; Gertrude Jerman, Alice Oetting and her husband Erich and niece Jeanette Seaberg. She is survived by several nephews; Eugene Oetting and family of Colorado and Donald Seaberg and family of Minnesota. Madge was a vital and loved character all her life and despite vision problems greeted everyone by name at church and would say " Thank you for coming" !
