Madge married James Edwin Brown, Jr. December 1954. MYRTLE BEACH - Mrs. Madge Collins Bryan, 85, wife of James E. Bryan, Jr., passed away Saturday evening, March 20, 2021 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach after an extended illness. Mrs. Bryan was born July 12, 1935 in Marion County, a daughter to the late Hamilton Berry Brown and the late Daisy Bell Collins Brown. She graduated Mullins High School (Class of 1953) and attended Florence Business College. Madge was owner and operator of the Swamp Fox Gift Shop in Myrtle Beach, and for a while, managed the Sea Mist Resort Gift Shop. Mrs. Bryan is survived by her husband of 66 years, James E. Bryan, Jr.; two daughters, Vickie (Jack) Wright of Myrtle Beach and Karen (Brent) McCurry of Myrtle Beach; a son, James E. (Paula) Bryan, III of Myrtle Beach; sister, Mary Ann Whaley; brother, Phillip Collins; 5 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Madge was predeceased by her father, Oscar Dixon Collins and her mother, Ann Tumblin Collins; her adoptive father, Hamilton Berry Brown and mother, Daisy Collins Brown; two sisters, Kay Brown Long and Marguerite Koford; and a brother, H. Dan Brown. A graveside service for Mrs. Bryan will be held Tuesday afternoon, March 23 at 2:00 p.m. in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. We ask that those in attendance to wear masks if possible and to keep social distance for everyone’s safety.
