Description	:	CLEAR LAKE — Mrs. Mae J. Nichols, 90, died Friday (Feb. 13, 1998) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Township Cemetery, rural Burchinal. Nichols Memorial Fund. Mae was born March 30, 1907, in Crocker, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Rozella (Rucker) Odom. She moved with her parents at the age of 9 to the Swaledale area, where she obtained her education. Mae married John C. Nichols Sr. on Nov. 24, 1927, in Swaledale. They farmed in the Cerro Gordo County area. She cooked at the All Vets Social Center and other Clear Lake restaurants. Mae enjoyed cooking, gardening and crocheting. Her biggest prides and joys were her grandchildren and family. Mae was a big supporter of Opportunity Village. She was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church. Mae is survived by two sons, John Nichols Jr. and his wife, Edith, and Don Nichols and his wife, Dorothy, all of Clear Lake; seven grandchildren, Michael, Kathryn, Deborah, Linda, Sandra, Kenneth and Amie; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Flo Bonner of Clear Lake; and two sisters-in-law, Peggy Odom of Mason City and Marjorie Caffrey of Clear Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Dorothy; husband, John Nichols Sr.; brother, Clifford Odom; and one sister, Beulah Pannhoff. Thanks to Findagrave, Lois Schwartz, #46986897
